When You Ask Why

After the death of a significant loved one in our lives, we are often faced with the emotion and pain that results.

5. What “why” question concerned you the most?  (i.e. Why me? Why did someone want to hurt him or her?  Why did God punish me this way? Why did he/she suffer?)
6. What have you done to find an answer to “why” this happened? (i.e. research, investigate, pray)
7. Have you ever found an acceptable answer to why?  If so, can you explain? And did it help or complicate the emotions you felt?
8. How long has “why” bothered you? (i.e. months, years, always will)

9. How do you think “not knowing why” will affect your life in the future?
10. How did/does your formalized religion or belief system help you live without an answer to why?
11. How do you cope when you know you may never know why this death occurred?
